Last June 2, 2009, I was sent there at Hong Kong together with one of our colleague, Sir Leo. We've been implementing a very big project for the OFW's (type Abot Tanaw Next IX in Google and you'll see.. lol.). We were really very busy there but we don't miss some time to tour the very famous HK. So, for all those pips going there, here's some tips for yah. Hong Kong Hong Kong is composed of Islands and Territories and is now one of China's Special Administrative Region. Its setting is dubbed as "East meets West". A city which European Foods is more common than Chinese(Most of the time, we eat hamburgers as our meals). Its main Business Center is in Hong Kong Island. Almost all of their historical landmarks can be found there. Facing Hong Kong near the China part of land is Kowloon City. If your a bargain hunter and want to shop more while spending less, this place is right for you. There's actually a street there, at Mong Kok, that's closed for traffic to give way to shoppers that fills the whole district(Around 3 streets and intersections). If you want a CARBON(Cebu) like place for shopping, Tsim sha tsui is the right place, its still in Kowloon Area and is very known for very cheap buys. From electronics to dry goods, its like a very big "Tabo sa Banay" Sale. If your a socialite and hate cheap places, then, Hong Kong Island is the right place for you. Pacific Place, Time Square and many others. Don't be afraid to get lost, its as small as Cebu City. If in any time, you're homesick staying there, go to Worldwide Plaza, Hongkong, Central during weekends, specially Sunday, and meet your kababayans. It's like lucky plaza in Singapore, wherein so many Filipino flocks the street. Eat at our own Jollibee, get a free Phil. Star Newspaper and socialize with our fellow kababayans.
DisneyLand etc. You're just wasting your airplane ticket if you'll not pass Hong Kong Disneyland. The one day pass is very affordable, and trust me, you'll never regret the feeling of being there. It's my second time going there(Hongkong not Disneyland) and during my first, I didn't mind not visiting disneyland since I have no idea how much fun that place was, but now, It's a very unforgettable experience. The "must" ride there is Space Mountain. It's an indoor rollercoster. It's like traveling into space, be sucked up by black holes, and traversing some solar systems. It a very thrilling ride and is not suitable for heart troubled patients. Then a must see for the whole family is the Mickey's PhilharMagic , a must see 4D experience. Golden Mickeys, Festival of the Lion King, and the Jungle River Cruise are highly recommended. Another HK's famous destination is HK Ocen Park.
SO, there, you're set to go. And for the side note, People there don't cross during Stop Lights and Public Busses there stops only at the assigned stop areas. Also, When you're in mall, Always stays at the middle(right part) of the escalator. Always reserve the other one as the fast lane for others to pass. That's all for now. I'll blog my trip to Singapore maybe this next days or two, so stay tuned. :) |
